Saint Mary's College

The Trumper Computer Center is the largest and most popular computer cluster on campus. It is located in the basement of the Cushwa-Leighton Library.

Trumper is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week when classes are in session on campus.

During the academic year, Trumper has Cluster Consultants on duty:

      Mondays-Thursdays: 8:00am - 11:00pm
      Fridays: 8:00am - 4:00pm
      No staffed hours on Saturdays
      Sundays: 12:00pm - 11:00pm

When the College is open but classes are not in session (fall, spring, and semester breaks) the Trumper Computer Cluster is open during normal Library hours only and is not staffed.

Google's Workspace for Education @ Saint Mary's College

Saint Mary's College uses Google's Workspace for Education (formerly G Suite for Education and Google Apps for Education) for Mail, Calendar, Contacts, and other communication and collaboration tools. For information about Workspace for Education at Saint Mary's College, please visit http://www.saintmarys.edu/googleapps.

PrintLimit

Saint Mary's College has implemented a print accounting system for all computer cluster printers. The print accounting system is called PrintLimit. Information about Saint Mary's print accounting policies is available at http://www.saintmarys.edu/printlimit.

All Saint Mary's students will be given a $50 credit (500 pages) for printing each academic year. An individual's unused quota, either from the provided quota or additional quota purchased via print cards, will be carried over from year to year until a student graduates or leaves the College. A student will only have to pay for printing if this initial $50 quota (or remaining quota from previous years) is used up during the academic year.

Students will be charged 10¢ per piece of paper printed. For example, if a student prints out an eleven-page document single-sided, her account will be charged $1.10 for the printout.

When a student prints a document double-sided, her account will still be charged 10¢ for each piece of paper that is printed. For example, if a student prints out an eleven-page document double-sided, her account will be charged $0.60 for the printout.

The majority of printers in the computer clusters and classrooms on campus print double-sided by default. Single-sided printing is available in the Trumper Computer Center and in 336 Spes Unica.

Color printing is available on the Kyocera printers in the Trumper Computer Center, Huisking Instructional Technology Resource Center, the lower level of the Student Center, and Learning Tree. Students can send color print jobs to the StudentColor print queue via Mobility Print to release on one of those specific printers. Students will be charged 50¢ per page printed via the StudentColor print queue. Printing via the StudentColor print queue does not print double-sided by default.

For tips on how to help reduce personal printing costs in the clusters, including instructions on how to print documents double-sided, printing multiple PowerPoint slides to a page, and how to print multiple pages on a single side of a piece of paper, please visit the Clusters FAQ at http://www.saintmarys.edu/clusters/clustersfaq/.

Clusters: Frequently Asked Questions

The Trumper Computer Center Cluster is the the only computer cluster that is staffed at Saint Mary's College. If you have questions about the computers or printers in a cluster that is not staffed, or in Trumper when there is no Cluster Consultant on duty, our FAQ may help - it is a list of the most common questions the Cluster Consultants and Information Technology staff are asked about the cluster computers and printers.

There are three basic rules for the computer clusters at Saint Mary's College:
(Please obey the posted signs in the clusters for additional cluster-specific policies.)

    1) No food or beverages are allowed near the computers.
    2) All labs are considered "quiet zones."
    3) The telephones in the clusters are for official business only - no personal calls.
Please note that the Trumper Computer Center Cluster is not a reservable space. This space is intended to be available for general student use at all times. It may not be reserved for classes, tests, group meetings, or other events. The two exceptions are Cluster Consultant training (during the weekend after the first week of classes in a semester) and during Information Technology hardware and software upgrades (completed in the summer when classes are not in session on campus).

Having a computer problem in the Clusters and there isn't a Cluster Consultant on duty?

Please complete a ResNet Problem Report Form at http://fixit.saintmarys.edu. When completing the form, next to Request Type, select Academic Clusters and Classrooms. Cluster Consultants and Information Technology staff will receive your form and help you out.
