    eduroam @ Saint Mary's College

Saint Mary's College participates in eduroam! (Effective December 10, 2025.)

eduroam allows students, faculty, staff, and researchers from participating institutions to wirelessly access the Internet from their home campus and the campuses of other participating institutions without the need for guest credentials or relying on limited guest network access. eduroam provides reliable Internet connectivity when visiting other participating institutions for any reason, including classes, research, and conferences.

By connecting to eduroam from the campus of Saint Mary's College, you are confirming your agreement to both the Responsible Use of College Computers and the Internet @ Saint Mary's College and Internet2 eduroam® Acceptable Use Policy.

eduroam is available worldwide, and you can find locations with eduroam using the interactive maps at incommon.org/eduroam/eduroam-u-s-locator-map (US locations) and eduroam.org/where (worldwide).

eduroam is also available at the following nearby institutions:

    • University of Notre Dame
    • Indiana University (IUSB and other campuses)
    • Bethel University
    • Purdue University (Purdue University Northwest and other campuses)
    • Goshen College

What else should I know about connecting to eduroam?

    • Saint Mary's students, faculty, and staff can continue to connect to the BelleNet wireless network on campus for their Internet connectivity needs. BelleNet is not affected by the addition of eduroam to our campus.
    • It is normal for your device(s) to take a few moments to connect to an eduroam wireless network away from the Saint Mary's campus - the location you are at has to check back with Saint Mary's servers to confirm you are authorized to connect before the connection is completed.
    • You should connect to eduroam if you are frequently traveling between college campuses that participate in eduroam. Once your device is connected to eduroam, your device should automatically reconnect to the eduroam wireless network no matter which campus you are on at the time (assuming there is eduroam wireless connectivity available).
    • You should connect to eduroam if you are planning to visit a location that participates in eduroam. (Campuses may offer eduroam in locations beyond traditional academic, social, and residential spaces. eduroam can also be found in some museums and university-affiliated hospital systems.) Once your device is connected to eduroam, your device should automatically reconnect to the eduroam wireless network (assuming there is eduroam wireless connectivity available).
    • Many popular Saint Mary's resources, including the my.saintmarys.edu portal, Blackboard, and Oracle, are accessible via eduroam everywhere.
    • When you are on Saint Mary's campus and are connected to eduroam, you can access most campus-restricted resources, but connections to network drives may not work.
    • When you are not on Saint Mary's campus but are connected to eduroam, access to Saint Mary's resources will be the same as if you are connecting from your home ISP or public Wi-Fi. Access to network drives and other campus-restricted resources will not be accessible. Faculty and staff can still access these resources when connected to an eduroam wireless network away from Saint Mary's via the VPN.
    • eduroam is for 802.1x-compatible devices (i.e. computers, smartphones, and tablets). Internet of Things (IoT) devices are not compatible with eduroam. Saint Mary's students must continue registering their televisions, streaming media devices, gaming stations, personal digital assistants, and other IoT devices on DeviceNet for Internet connectivity.
