Saint Mary's College offers Microsoft 365 for Faculty and Staff for free to our employees. Microsoft 365 offers full versions of current Office software that can be downloaded and installed on the personally-owned macOS and Windows computers of faculty and staff. Microsoft 365 includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Versions of Office for mobile devices are also included with Microsoft 365. There are no monthly subscription fees associated with the Microsoft 365 for Faculty and Staff license.

Faculty and staff who would like a license for Microsoft 365 should e-mail their request for a license to the Helpdesk at helpdesk@saintmarys.edu. Please make requests only on your own behalf and not on the behalf of others.

After a license has been assigned, a Saint Mary’s faculty or staff member can install Office 365 ProPlus software on up to five personally-owned computers and mobile devices.

Faculty and staff are responsible for checking their personal devices (computers, tablets, smartphones) for compatibility with the Microsoft 365 for Faculty and Staff software before installing the software. System requirements for Microsoft software for computers and mobile devices are available here.

On mobile devices, including the iPad and iPhone, Microsoft 365 files can be saved directly to the device.

Microsoft 365 files on mobile devices can also be saved to OneDrive, Microsoft’s cloud storage service, for backup purposes. OneDrive for Business has been enabled for faculty and staff accounts licensed for Microsoft Office 365. OneDrive for Business quotas are 1TB. You will be able to access your files using the OneDrive for Business app from Microsoft.

Microsoft 365 licenses will automatically expire immediately after an individual assigned a license leaves the College or is no longer an active employee (as recorded by Human Resources). Any data saved on the Microsoft 365 account, including files stored on OneDrive for Business, will be deleted when the license expires.

If you leave the College's employment for any length of time and then return, you will need to re-request a Microsoft 365 license - a license will not be reassigned to you automatically.

Microsoft 365 licenses are for you to install software on a personally-owned computer. DO NOT use this option to install Microsoft 365 software on your College-owned computer. If you would like Microsoft Office software installed or upgraded on a College-owned computer, please send a separate request for assistance to the Helpdesk at helpdesk@saintmarys.edu.

If you have any questions about this Microsoft 365 software program for your personal computer and mobile devices, please contact the Helpdesk at helpdesk@saintmarys.edu. You will not be able to retrieve the Microsoft 365 software until you have contacted the Helpdesk at helpdesk@saintmarys.edu to request a license and received a response that a license has been assigned to you. Instructions for downloading and installing the software will be provided after a license has been assigned to you.
