What is Office 365 ProPlus for Faculty and Staff, and how do I obtain a license?
Faculty and staff who would like a license for Office 365 ProPlus should e-mail their request for a license to the Helpdesk at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please make requests only on your own behalf and not on the behalf of others.
Office 365 ProPlus offers full versions of Microsoft Office to be downloaded and installed on the personally-owned computers of faculty and staff. Versions of Office for mobile devices are also included with Office 365 ProPlus. After a license has been assigned, a Saint Mary’s faculty or staff member can install Office 365 ProPlus software on up to five personally-owned computers and five personally-owned mobile devices. There are no monthly subscription fees associated with the Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus for Faculty and Staff license.
Computers, iPhones, iPads, Android phones, and Windows 10 tablets are devices eligible to have Microsoft Office 365 software installed. A list of system requirements necessary for Microsoft software is available here.
On mobile devices, including the iPad and iPhone, Microsoft Office files can be saved directly to the device.
Microsoft Office files on mobile devices can also be saved to OneDrive, Microsoft’s cloud storage service, for backup purposes. OneDrive for Business has been enabled for faculty and staff accounts licensed for Microsoft Office 365. OneDrive for Business quotas are 1TB. You will be able to access your files using the OneDrive for Business app from Microsoft.
Office 365 licenses will automatically expire 30 days after an individual assigned a license leaves the College or is no longer an active employee. Any data saved on the Office 365 account, including files stored on OneDrive for Business, will be deleted after those 30 days.
Office 365 licenses are for you to install software on a personally-owned computer. DO NOT use this option to install Microsoft Office on your College-owned computer. If you would like Microsoft Office software installed or upgraded on a College-owned computer, please send a separate request for assistance to the Helpdesk at email@example.com.
If you have any questions about this Microsoft Office 365 software program for your personal computer and mobile devices, please contact the Helpdesk at firstname.lastname@example.org. You will not be able to retrieve the Microsoft Office 365 software until you have contacted the Helpdesk at email@example.com to request a license and received a response that a license has been assigned to you. Instructions for downloading and installing the software will be provided after a license has been assigned to you.
