All RCCs are responsible for filling the printer in the Writing Center with paper.
The printer should be checked at least twice a day for paper and toner.
RCCs should create a schedule for when the printers should be checked and by whom.
Just because an RCC does not live in the same residence hall as the Writing
Center printer does not mean that she does not share equal responsibility for
making sure the printer is kept well-stocked.
DO NOT leave extra sheets or reams of paper next to the printer.
The paper may be stolen or students may try to jam the paper into the printer,
causing the printer to break.
RCCs are responsible for picking up paper and toner from 134 Haggar (Doreen Nagy's office)
between 8:00am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday. There is a cart available in the
Coordinnator of Student Computing's office to assist you with moving the paper.
There should always be one unopened box of paper kept in the RCC Office in 102 Haggar
College Center. This box of paper is for emergency use only.
If you opened the emergency box of paper, you are responsible for delivering more
boxes of paper to the RCC Office to replace the emergency box of paper and the original
paper supply.
Every Friday you should evaluate the amount of paper you have available to refill
the printer. If you do not have enough to last the weekend, pick up a box or two of paper from
the IT office before 5:00pm.
The toner in the printers will be replaced ONLY when the print quality deteriorates.
If the printer indicates that the toner is low, but the print quality has not diminished,
do not replace the toner.
Every Friday you should evaluate the amount of toner available in the printer.
If the printer is reporting low toner, it is likely that the print quality will
diminish over the weekend, and you should pick up a new toner from the IT office before 5:00pm.
Take the mailing label from the toner box and set it aside. Place used toner in the
box from the new toner. Close the box. Place the mailing label on the box and take the box
to Mail Services or to the IT mailboxes for it to be recycled.
The printer should have signs posted with the following text:
When the print quality from this printer is poor,
please fill out a ResNet Problem Report Form at
http://fixit.saintmarys.edu
to report it, and the toner will be replaced.
(Note: The Helpdesk will not replace this toner.)
If the printer reports that the toner is low,
but the print quality has not diminished,
the toner will not be replaced.
