You will need to purchase an external hard drive to back up your data to. ResNet recommends the Western Digital brand of external hard disks, and they are available for purchase at the Shaheen Bookstore (and may be charged to your student account), Amazon.com, and Best Buy.

    Option 1: File History Backup

    This method is suitable for backing up your files, libraries, and settings. It doesn't create a full system image, but it's a good option for regular file backups.

    1. Connect your external hard drive.
    2. Click on the Start menu.
    3. Type File History in the search bar at the top of the window.
    4. Select File History to open it.
    5. Click on the Select Drive option given on the left side menu.
    6. You will get the list of all connected hard drives both internal and external.
    7. Select your external hard drive.
    8. lick on the “Turn On” button.
    9. The system will automatically start backing up your current File changes history.

    Option 2: System Image Backup

    To perform a full system backup, including system files, applications, and settings, you can use System Image Backup.

    1. Connect your external hard drive.
    2. Click on the Start menu.
    3. Type Control Panel in the search bar at the top of the window.
    4. Select Control Panel to open it.
    5. Go to System & Security -> Backup & Restore
    6. Click "Set up backup."
    7. Select your external hard drive as the backup destination.
    8. Choose what you want to back up and set a backup schedule.
