I would like to be able to access my personal and/or shared network drive while I am at home or off-campus. Is this possible?
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and our commitment to provide resources that will assist students with learning remotely, students can currently connect to the Saint Mary's VPN and then access personal and shared network drives from off campus. There is no scheduled end date for this offering.
Students can connect to the Saint Mary's VPN (Virtual Private Network) from their personal Mac and Windows computers. The VPN connection will then allow you to access resources otherwise limited to on-campus use (including network drives and remote cluster access).
Instructions for students to connect to the VPN are available at https://my.saintmarys.edu/web/information-technology.
To test that your VPN connection is working successfully, please visit http://apps.saintmarys.edu/vpntest.
After you are successfully connected to the VPN, you will be able to connect to your network drives using the instructions at http://www.saintmarys.edu/~resnet/resnetfaq/#networkdrive.
Please note that the VPN instructions for students are different from the VPN instructions for faculty and staff. Make sure that you follow the correct set of instructions to connect successfully.
