What is McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac 2.2 for Mac?
McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac 2.2 is also known as McAfee VirusScan 9.7 for Mac.
McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac is malware-protection software that is available for use on
College-owned and personally-owned
Apple computers of faculty, staff and students running Mac OS X version 10.7 or later
(Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, and Yosemite).
McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac is standard software on every public and office
Mac. If McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac is not already on your Mac running Mac OS X version 10.7
or later, you can install the software using the instructions below.
Even if you have McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac installed on your computer, the
McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac definition files must still be updated regularly to keep your malware protection
software up-to-date.
The instructions for installing McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac will include information on how
McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac will automatically download and install the latest definitions available for your computer.
Why is it called "McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac" instead of "McAfee VirusScan"? Because there are more security
threats to computers than just viruses. McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac is a product that focuses on
protecting Macs from all malicious software (malware), and not just the few virus threats that
affect them.
Installing McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac 2.2
To install McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac on your computer, you must have Mac OS X version 10.7 or later
(including 10.8, 10.9, and 10.10) installed on your computer.
(This includes Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, and Yosemite.)
To make sure that your computer is running Mac OS X version 10.7 or later, go to the Apple Menu
in the upper left corner of your computer and select "About this Mac." Under the words
"Mac OS X" it will list the version number. If you are running a version of Mac OS X
that is earlier than version 10.7, you cannot install MMcAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac 2.2.
This install will take approximately 10-30 minutes, depending on
the speed of the computer and your network connection.

virus protection software, you may want to refer to the software manufacturer's web site
for instructions.
