Caryn MacKenzie

Caryn Mackenzie begins her fourth season in charge of the Belles soccer program.
During her first two seasons she has compiled a mark of 26-21-4. During the 2005 season she guided the Belles to a 10-5-1 record in MIAA which was good enough for a third place finish and the best league finish in Saint Mary’s history. In just two seasons, she has coached four first-team MIAA players as well as three other players who have garnered all-conference honors.
Mackenzie has successfully transitioned to the college game following a stellar career as the head coach of the girls soccer team at Adams High School ( South Bend, Ind.). At Adams she produced six conference championship teams, one Regional Championship team, and an IHSAA Semi-State Runner-up. Mackenzie was named the conference coach of the year three times and the District 2 Coach of the Year twice. Prior to her successful stint at Adams, she spent four seasons with another local program at Riley High School.
Mackenzie continues to serve as the Girls’ Athletic Director and Physical Education teacher at The Stanley Clark School in South Bend.

Ramzi
has been a long time assistant for Coach Mackenzie and has himself
been a head coach with the Junior Irish soccer
program for nearly a decade. He will continue to serve as the
Director of Undergraduate Studies in Computer Science & Engineering
at the University of Notre Dame while coaching the Belles with
Caryn.
Maja
Hansen
mhansen@nd.edu
Hansen will return for her fourth year as the goalkeepers
coach for the Belles. As a keeper at the University of New
Hampshire ('95), she was a NSCAA Division-I First Team All-American,
an Umbro Select College All-Star Game MVP, and was at the U.S.
Women's National Team Residential Camp. She will also continue
in her present position as the Associate Director of Ticketing
for the University of Notre Dame. Recently Maja was inducted to the UNH Athletic Hall of Fame for her efforts as a member of the Wildcats squad from 1991-94.
Tom VanMeter
Tom VanMeter has been a stable in the South Bend soccer community for nearly his entire life. He previously was head coach of the Belles soccer program in the late-1980's and early-90's were he led them to NAIA post-season berths. He currently serves as an assistant soccer coach at Penn High School where he teaches. VanMeter was inducted into the SMC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002.
Colleen Courtney
Colleen Courtney joins the soccer staff for the 2007 season as a graduate assistant. The native of Melrose, Mass. recently earned her degree in Sociology from Saint Mary's. She was a four-year starter for the Belles and served as a captain of the squad during her final season.
