Swim - Gerbeth Claims 1650 Crown; Belles Gets Sixth

For the first time in four years a Saint Mary’s swimmer was crowned an MIAA champion when Melissa Gerbeth swam the 1650 yard freestyle event in a time of 17:51.31.
Megan Ramsey won the 100 yard butterfly for the Belles in 2003. It is only the second time in Saint Mary’s swimming history they won an individual event at the MIAA Championships.

Swim - Calvin Posts 129-86 Win Over the Belles

Calvin posted a 129-86 win over Saint Mary’s on Friday evening in MIAA swimming action at Washington High School. Calvin won seven of the 11 swimming events in claiming the victory.
The Belles got a stellar effort from Sara Niemann who won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26.95. Niemann also claimed an individual event win by swimming the 100 yard backstroke in 1:07.13 just edging out Calvin’s Julie Wolfe by :00.09.

Swim - Hillsdale Posts Win Against Saint Mary's

Hillsdale posted victories in eight of the 11 swimming events in posting a 126-96 win over Saint Mary’s Saturday evening in a non-conference swimming and diving meet.
The Belles got another great performance out of Melissa Gerbeth as the sophomore posted wins in the 500 yard (5:24.6) and 1650 (18:23.58) yard freestyle events. Shannon Hansen also posted victory for Saint Mary’s by winning the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:51.6.
The Saint Mary’s 400 yard relay team claimed a first-place finish in the final event of evening with a time of 4:06.88.

Swim - Kalamazoo Knocks Off Saint Mary's, 125-85

Kalamazoo posted a 125-85 win over Saint Mary's Friday evening in MIAA swimming action at the Hornets natatorium.
A trio of Belles swimmers posted individual event best as Kelly Tighe (50 yard freestyle), Sara Niemann (500 yard freestyle) and Lindsey Nelis (200 yard freestyle) each won their respective events.
