Saint Mary's Sweep Adrian; Advances to MIAA Tournament

ADRIAN, MI – The Saint Mary’s softball team ended the 2007 regular season by posting 5-3 and 10-3 wins over Adrian Monday afternoon.
With the two victories the Belles are one of four teams to advance to the league’s post-season tournament. The Belles will enter the tournament, which begins on Thursday, as the fourth-seed and will play the top-seed and host Alma. Also advancing to the double elimination tournament are Tri-State and Hope.
Saint Mary’s record now stands at 25-7 overall and 10-6 in league play while Adrian holds marks of 15-13 and 4-10 respectively.
In the first game the Belles took advantage of five Bulldog errors as each of their runs they scored were unearned. Saint Mary’s scored four runs in the top of the sixth to rally from a 3-1 deficit en route to the victory. Katie Rashid was the only Belle to post a multi-hit game with two.
During the nightcap, Kristin Amram dominated on the mound while a host of Belles posted multiple hits in the sweep. Amram struck out 10 and scattered seven hits in the win. Sarah Miesle posted the offensive game for Saint Mary’s with a 2-for-4 effort with four RBI’s and two runs scored. Maureen Healy, Laura Heline and Rashid also tallied two hits a piece.
