Saint Mary's Records Doubleheader Sweep Against Albion

NOTRE DAME, IN – Saint Mary’s posted two big late inning scoring spurts in each game to post an MIAA doubleheader sweep against Albion. The Belles won the first game 5-3 and then recorded a 14-1 victory in the nightcap.
The wins lift the Belles record to 20-6 overall and 5-5 in league play while Albion falls to 10-22 and 3-9 respectively.
In the opening game the Britons held a 3-0 lead with two-out in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Belles scored five runs. Ashley Peterson started the scoring with a solo homerun before Ashley Fusaro tied the game with a two-run shot after a Sarah Miesle single. Katie Rashid sealed the win with a two-run single that scored McKenna Corrigan and Laura Heline.
Maureen Healy, Calli Davison and Rashid each posted two-hits in the victory for the Belles. Davison picked up the win on the mound striking out eight in improving her record to 12-2.
During the nightcap Saint Mary’s got a stellar pitching effort from Kristin Amram who struck out a season high 14 in a game shorten to six-innings. Amram upped her record to 8-4. Saint Mary’s busted open a tight game with a 12-run sixth inning.
Rashid went 3-for-4 with two RBI’s and two runs scored to lead the offensive onslaught. Ashley Peterson, Healy, Corrigan each tallied two-hits.
