Amram Named MIAA Pitcher of the Week, Again
NOTRE DAME, IN – For the second consecutive week sophomore pitcher Kristin Amram has been named the MIAA softball Pitcher of the Week after picking up three wins on the mound in three starts. In the three games she tallied 20 innings, struck out 31 and allowed 13 hits.
It is the second time this season and the fourth time in her career she has received the weekly accolade.
During her final start of the week against Kalamazoo, Amram (Crete, IL/Crete-Monee HS) pitched her third career no-hitter as she faced one batter over the minimum.
She started of the week by striking out 14 in six innings during the Belles 14-1 win over Albion on Tuesday. Against the Britons she allowed just four hits in recording her third highest strikeout total in a game during her collegiate career
During Friday’s 7-6 win over Hope, Amram gave up nine hits and six runs but racked up eight strikeouts in the contest.
She had her most impressive game of the week in the Belles 2-0 victory over Kalamazoo when she struck nine during and walked none in her second no-hitter of the season. The game marked the eighth time in 2007 she has given up two or less hits in start.
Amram improved her record to 10-4 on the season. The sophomore has only given up 18 earned runs in 93 innings of work while moving her strikeout total to 147 on the season. She is holding the opposition to a .134 batting average while posting a 1.35 ERA
The Belles are currently 23-7 overall and 8-6 in MIAA play. Entering Monday’s final doubleheader of the season at Adrian, the Belles are in fourth-place in the league standings. The top four teams qualify for the season ending conference tournament.
