Saint Mary's, Hope Each Claim Win in Doubleheader

NOTRE DAME, IN – Both Saint Mary’s and Hope each took a game in an MIAA doubleheader Friday afternoon at a soggy SMC Softball field. Hope took game one 6-5 while the Belles came back to win the nightcap 7-6.
Saint Mary’s record now stands at 21-7 overall and 6-6 in league play while Hope holds marks of 23-10 and 11-3 respectively.
In a back-and-forth game one, each team pounded out 10 hits but the Belles allowed three unearned runs on four errors. Hope’s Kylee Brouwer went 2-for-4 with two RBI’s and two runs scored in the victory.
For the Belles, Ashley Peterson banged out two hits and drove in three runs while Katie Rashid also had two-hits, including a home run, with scoring two and tallying an RBI.
During the nightcap the Belles held a 7-3 edge after six innings but a three run rally by Hope made things interesting before Kristin Amram struck out Laura Tanouye to end the game with a runner on second.
Maureen Healy went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in the winning effort. Sarah Miesle had a 3-for-4 performance with and RBI and a run scored for the Belles.
