Three Belles Earn MIAA All League Honors
NOTRE DAME, IN – Kristin Amram, Sarah Miesle and Katie Rashid each received MIAA honors which were announced on Tuesday afternoon. Amram was given First-Team accolades while Miesle and Rashid were named to the league’s Second-Team.
The voting for the league awards is done by the nine coaches in the conference and is based on games against MIAA foes.
Amram (Crete, IL/Crete-Monee) went 5-3 in league games and was second in the conference in total strikeouts (78). The sophomore held the opposition to a league best .190 batting average against her. She completed all eight games she started striking out at least 10 batters in four of those starts. In addition, it is the second consecutive year that she was named to the league’s First-Team
Miesle ( Woodburn, IN/Woodlan) started all 16 MIAA games at shortstop for the Belles were she posted a .380 batting average with two home runs and 12 RBI’s. The senior was tied for the team lead with 20 hits in league games. She had a team best .981 fielding percentage.
Rashid ( Northville, MI/Marian) was listed second in the MIAA with four homeruns and was the team leader with a .404 batting average. The sophomore was sixth in slugging percentage (.723) seventh in the MIAA with 35 total bases.
Both Maureen Healy (Lansing, IL/Marian Catholic) and Ashley Peterson ( Homewood, IL/Marian Catholic) were given coaches honorable mention nods.
Saint Mary’s finished the year with a 25-9 record overall and 10-6 in MIAA play which was good enough for the fourth place in the league.
