Three Belles Named to NFCA All Region Team

NOTRE DAME, IN – Kristin Amram, Sarah Miesle and Ashley Peterson were all named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Central Region team. The region includes 44 schools from the Ohio Athletic, Heartland, North Coast, President’s and the Michigan Intercollegiate conferences.
Amram garnered second-team honors at the pitcher position while Miesle and Peterson were both at-large selections on the third-team.
Amram (Crete, IL/Crete-Monee), who was a first-team honoree last season, was dominating again this season. The sophomore struck out 167 batters in 109 innings as she posted an 11-5 record on the mound. In seven of 16 games she started, she held the opposition to two or less hits. She tossed no-hitters against Nichols on March 12 and versus Kalamazoo on April 28.
In addition she posted a 1.48 ERA while holding the opposition to a .157 batting average against her. She struck out 10 or more batters on seven occasions and had five shutouts during her campaign.
Miesle ( Woodburn, IN/Woodlan) drove in a Saint Mary’s school record 39 runs while scoring 38 runs of her own. She tallied at least one hit in 29 game while posting a .400 batting average while batting in the No. 4 spot most of the season. The senior, who started all 34 games at shortstop, was second on the team with six homeruns.
Peterson ( Lansing, IL/Marian Catholic) recorded a team best .426 batting average in splitting time as the lead-off or No. 3 batter in the line-up. The freshman also posted a team best .492 on-base percentage. She also led the team in doubles (12) and walks (15). Peterson notched 13 multi-hit games while starting 33 of the Belles 34 games in the outfield.
Saint Mary’s finished the season with a 25-9 overall record with a 10-6 mark in MIAA play.
