NOTRE DAME, IN – Saint Mary’s scored 22 of the afternoon’s final 23 runs over two games in recording wins of 13-7 and 9-1 over Olivet Saturday in MIAA softball action
The pair of wins ups the Belles record to 18-6 overall and 3-5 in league play while Olivet falls to 15-12 and 3-8 respectively.
In the first game, the Comets scored seven runs in the first inning including home runs by Kacie Rosecrants and Anna Braner. However the Belles chipped away and got their deficit down to 7-5 after the fourth inning. Saint Mary’s put the game away with an eight-run sixth inning.
Maureen Healy posted a 2-for-4 game effort with three RBI’s and a run scored. Katie Rashid, who hit a two-run homerun in the third inning, went 2-for-4 as well with three runs scored and RBI. Cathy Kurczak banged out two hits in three at-bats and scored two runs.
During the nightcap, Kristin Amram struck out 12 batters and gave up just two hits in the five-inning victory. Healy hadn’t another 2-for-4 effort as she drove in three runs and scored on another occasion. Sarah Miesle went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI.
