BEREA, OH -- The Saint Mary’s volleyball team continued their strong start to the 2006 season with victories over Lake Erie College and Case Western Reserve Friday afternoon at the Maria French Memorial Tournament hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College.
In the opening match against Lake Erie, the Belles wasted little time on the court in cruising to a 3-0 (30-16, 30-8, 30-10) victory.
The Belles second match proved much the same as they knocked off Case Western Reserve 3-0 (30-22, 30-11, 30-23) to stay undefeated in pool play.
During the two matches Lorna Slupczynski posted 25 kills to lead the Belles effort. Kristen Playko tallied 16 kills while Cathy Kurczak and Ann Carpenter each notched 14.
Saint Mary’s will play John Carroll on Saturday afternoon with the winner of that match will then play for the tournament title against either Baldwin-Wallace or Heidelberg.
