Hope Out Duals Saint Mary's, 3-2

Hope rallied from a 2-1 deficit to knock off Saint Mary’s 3-2 (30-24, 26-30, 24-30, 30-28, 15-8) Wednesday evening in MIAA volleyball action.
The win lifts Hope’s record to 16-6 overall and 9-1 in MIAA play while the Belles fall to 14-7 and 7-5 respectively.
Hope jumped out and controlled game one in taking the early lead in the match. The Belles responded by overcoming a 25-21 Flying Dutch lead in the second game by claiming six consecutive points in taking control of the game and knotting the match at a game each. Saint Mary’s continued their momentum by breaking open a 16-16 third game with a 9-2 scoring spree to control the game and going up 2-1 in the match.
The fourth game was tight through out as neither team held a lead larger than three points. Saint Mary’s held a 27-26 late lead but the Flying Dutch were able to rattle off three straight points in taking a 29-27 advantage. After Saint Mary’s fought off one game point with an Ann Carpenter kill, Hope got a kill from Amber Hoezee to force a decisive game.
With a strong offensive effort in the final game were the Flying Dutch hit .409 as a team, Hope outlasted the host Belles who hit .000 in the final game.
Lorna Slupczysnki posted a match high 23 kills to go with her 12 dig effort. Kristen Playko also had a double-double with 20 kills and 21 digs. Amanda David notched a 62-assist, 13-dig performance.
For Hope, Nora Slenk had a team best 19 kills plus 12 digs. Amber Hoezee (18) and Kylee (12) rounded out the double figure kill producers for the Flying Dutch. Setter Stephanie Poll had 46 assists and 16 digs in the winning effort.
