Saint Mary's Continues Winning Ways with Sweep

NOTRE DAME, IN – The Saint Mary’s volleyball team posted their fourth win in their last five matches with a 3-0 (30-14, 30-28, 30-27) victory over Alma on Thursday evening at the Angela Athletic Center in an MIAA match.
The win lifts the Belles record to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in league play while Alma falls to 6-6 and 1-3 respectively.
In the opening game the Belles posted 18 team kills and a .455 hitting percentage in cruising to a 30-14 win in the first game. Alma held a 26-21 edge late in the second game but Saint Mary’s closed out on a 9-2 scoring spurt highlighted by three service aces in taking a commanding lead in the match.
With the third game tied at 12-12, the Belles slowly took control of the game and in taking a seemingly comfortable 28-21 lead. However, the Scot scored four consecutive points to force a Saint Mary’s timeout. A kill by Kaela Hellmann on the Belles second match point ended the three-game contest.
Lorna Slupczynski posted her fourth straight double-double with a 19-kill, 12-dig effort. Hellmann notched a team high 18 digs in the winning effort.
Sarah Scow had a team high 14 kills for the Alma.
