Saint Mary's Split Matches at Hiram Tournament
HIRAM, OH – After dropping a 3-0 (30-22, 30-24, 30-21) decision to Texas Lutheran, Saint Mary’s fought back with a 3-2 (29-31, 30-16, 17-30, 30-16, 17-15) victory over Thiel (Pa.) during the first day of the Hiram Invitational.
Saint Mary’s got a seven kill, 10 dig effort from Lorna Slupczynski during the loss to Texas Lutheran. Kaela Hellmann had a team high 10 kills in the opening match.
In the second match of the day, Slupczynski posted 17 kills and a .452 hitting percentage to pace the Belles offensive charge. Kaela Hellmann and Cathy Kurczak rounded out the double figure kill producers with 14 and 11 respectively. Amanda David dished out 48 assists. The Belles fought off a match point at 14-13 in game five before claiming the win over the Tomcats.
The six-team, two-day event concludes on Saturday with the Belles playing Geneva ( Pa.) and MIT.
