Mark Hamilton begins his sixth season with Saint Mary's, already surpassing his peers in the department by leading his squad to four consecutive MIAA championships.
Hamilton piloted a squad that made their initial NCAA Championship showing in the 2003 championships in which the team placed fourth in the country, and saw one of his golfers, Stefanie Summerman, win the Individual Medalist honor in becoming the College's first national champion. The Belles also qualified for the 2004 and 2005 NCAA championships.
Hamilton has taken his talents amassed from 19 years as a professional instructor, and tailored them to a talent-rich squad at Saint Mary's, enabling them to excel beyond their goals in his first year with the team. After teaching at venues such as Medinah Country Club in Illinois, the Palm Beach Polo Club, the Florida Golf School and the US Golf Academy, he settled his family in South Bend where he has been teaching for the past 13 years. Along with his position with Saint Mary's, he is the Director of Instruction at Swingfixers in Mishawaka, Ind.
Hamilton graduated from Ferris State University ( Mich.) in 1989 with a B.S. degree in Marketing and a minor in Professional Golf Management. He resides in South Bend with his wife Michelle (SMC ’91), and their two daughters. |
