NAPERVILLE, IL --Ashley Hinton posted a hat trick in leading Saint Mary’s to a 4-1 over Mount Mercy College at the Sal Vaccaro Tournament hosted by North Central College on Saturday afternoon.

The win lifts the Belles to 1-2 while Mount Mercy falls to 2-4-1.

Hinton posted her first goal at the 21-minute mark when she took a pass from Samantha Goudreau and beat Mustangs goalie Jess Kneip. The next two goals of the game came off the foot of Hinton was she scored an unassisted goal in the 64 th minute then again in the 68 th minute off a Jessica Slean corner kick.

Lauren Hinton posted her third goal of the season to round out the scoring for the Belles in the 73 rd minute. Keri Ludwig scored the only goal of the game for the Mustangs off a Laura Readout assist with just over eight minutes left in the contest.

In the contest the Belles posted a 21-4 edge in shots and a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. Saint Mary’s will play North Central on Sunday afternoon for the tournament championship at Noon.
