NOTRE DAME, IN -- Saint Mary’s tallied 41 total shots as seven different players scored a goal as the Belles knocked off Tri-State 8-0 Wednesday afternoon in the final regular season MIAA soccer game for both teams.

The victory lifts the Belles record to 5-8-1 overall and 4-3-1 in league play in securing the No. 4 seed for the upcoming MIAA tournament. Saint Mary’s will host Kalamazoo on Saturday afternoon at a time to be determined.

Micki Hedinger led the offensive onslaught with a two goal effort off the bench. Many Thompson and Colleen Courtney each had a goal and an assist in the victory. Lauren Hinton, Ashley Hinton and Katie Wehrli each recorded a goal as well for the Belles.

Saint Mary’s peppered Thunder goalie Vickie Bearman with 29 total shots on goal. Bearman made a MIAA season high 21 saves.

Laura Heline and Nicole Leach split the shutout win in goal. Leach made one save in the win.
