Belles Sweep Kalamazoo; Amram Tosses No-No

NOTRE DAME, IN – In the final homes games of the 2007 season, Saint Mary’s posted 10-2 and 2-0 wins over Kalamazoo in MIAA softball action. During the second game, Kristin Amram tossed her third career no-hitter.
The wins lifts the Belles record to 23-7 overall and 8-6 in league play while Kalamazoo falls to 4-21 and 1-13 respectively. If Saint Mary’s win at least one game of their doubleheader at Adrian on Monday afternoon, they will qualify for the MIAA Tournament which beings on Thursday, May 3.
In the first game the Belles pounded out 12 hits in a game shorten to five-innings because of the eight-run mercy rule. Leading the onslaught was Laura Heline who went 3-for-3 with three RBI’s and two runs scored. Ashley Fusaro and Calli Davison each tallied two hits to aid in the Belles attack.
Davison struck out two and scattered eight hits in upping her record to 13-3.
During the nightcap, Amram struck out nine in tossing her second no-hitter of the season. She faced just one batter over the minimum.
The Belles plated a run in the second and fifth innings which proved to be enough. Sarah Miesle went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Heline also posted a multi-hit game with two.
