ANGOLA, IN – Tri-State banged out 20 total hits in taking two MIAA contests from Saint Mary’s Tuesday afternoon. After posting a 9-1 win in the first game, Tri-State overcame an early deficit in recording a 3-2 victory.
The pair of wins improve the Thunder’s record to 21-5 overall and 5-1 in league play while the Belles fall to 14-6 and 1-5 respectively.
In the first game Rainbow Bednarski went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored three runs in leading the offensive effort for Tri-State. Lauren Hudson scattered six hits on the mound as no Belle player had more than one hit in the five-inning contest.
During the nightcap, Saint Mary’s jumped out in front when Katie Rashid hit a two-run homerun in the second inning. A Sallie Richardson double in the third inning tied the score when she scored Bednarksi and eventually scoring herself with an unearned run on her own hit. Richardson scored the winning run in the fifth inning on a wild pitch.
Ashley Light and Elise English combined to strike out six and allowed just four hits in the win. Kristin Amram struck out eight Thunder batters in the loss.
