Saint Mary’s pounded out 21 total hits as they took two games from Tri-State, 6-5 and 6-0, Tuesday afternoon in MIAA softball action at the SMC softball field.
The wins lift the Belles record to 23-7 overall and 9-1 in league action while Tri-State falls to 15-17 and 3-5 respectively. Saint Mary’s remains tied for first place in the MIAA with Hope.
In the opener the Thunder jumped out to a 3-0 after two innings. However, the Belles responded in the bottom of the third when Sarah Miesle hit a three-run homerun to tie the game. The two teams traded runs and headed to extra innings. Calli Davison ended the game in the last of ninth inning when she drove home Kristin Amram with one out.
Miesle went 3-for-4 with five RBI’s and a run scored to lead the Belles offense. Davison went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and the winning RBI.
In game two, the Belles offense stayed hot while Amram went strong on the mound striking out eight while giving up just three hits in recording her seventh shutout of the season in upping her record to 13-1.
Miesle hit her second homerun of the game in nightcap while going 2-for-4 with 2 RBI’s with a run scored. Ashley Furaso, who also hit a round tripper, went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
