Belles Set Win Mark in DH Sweep of Calvin

NOTRE DAME, IN – Saint Mary’s took both games of a twinbill from Calvin College
8-7 and 3-0 Tuesday afternoon in MIAA softball action.
The wins lift the Belles record to 21-7 overall and 7-1 in league action while Calvin falls to 7-13 and 1-3 respectively. The 21 total wins is the most wins ever for a Belles squad since joining the MIAA in 1998.
In the opening game the Knights jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the top of the second but the Belles chipped away and scored the game winning run when Sarah Miesle drove in Audrey Gajor with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to complete the comeback.
Ashley Fusaro went 3-for-3 with two runs scored to aid in the offensive output for the Belles. Miesle went 2-for-4 with two RBI’s and a run scored. Calli Davison pitched the final four innings to up her record to 2-1.
In the second game, Kristin Amram held the Knight’s bat silent by allowing just one hit while striking out 10 to improve her record to 12-1. Gajor led the way offensively in the nightcap, going 2-for-3 with three RBI’s. Bridget Grall scored two runs to add the Belles at the plate.
