Amram Sets School Strikeout Mark

Game One

Game Two

The Saint Mary’s softball team opened their home schedule by splitting with Manchester on Wednesday afternoon. Manchester won the first game 2-1 while the Belles claimed a 9-1 five-inning victory in the second contest

Saint Mary’s record now stands at 10-4 while the Spartans keep an even .500 mark at 7-7.

In the opening game a Holly McEathron solo homerun opened the scoring in the fourth inning in giving Manchester a 1-0 edge. The Belles responded in the fifth when Martha Smid scored on an error by third baseman Jenn Allen. The Spartans scored the winning run when Lisa Heaton drove home Melissa Bower with a single in the sixth inning.

The second game was dominated by Saint Mary’s pitcher Kristin Amram. The freshman struck out a school record 13 batters in the contest cut short because of the mercy rule. She faced 19 batters and gave up three hits while walking one in improving her record to 5-1.

The Belles opened the scoring with three runs in the first. Manchester made the score 3-1 with a run in the top of the third but Saint Mary’s exploded for six runs in the fifth inning to end the game before the scheduled seven inning contest.
