Kessler Named to All-Region Squad
NOTRE DAME, IN – Alison Kessler was named to the d3hoops.com Great Lakes Region Second-Team. In the six year history of the all-region team, it is the first time a Saint Mary’s player has been named to the squad that is voted on by the region’s Sports Information Directors.
The region is made of schools in the Heartland Athletic, Ohio Athletic, Northcoast Collegiate, Alleghany Mountain Athletic, President Athletic and Michigan Intercollegiate conferences.
Kessler (LaPorte, IN/New Prairie HS) led the MIAA in scoring and steals all season averaging 19.9 points a game while swiping 2.5 steals a contest. She also ranked sixth in assists in the league dishing out 3.08 a game. Her 5.2 rebounds a game was 14 th among conference leaders.
The junior earned First-Team MIAA honors for the second consecutive year and will return next season to lead a squad that finished third in the conference and advanced to the semifinals of the league’s post-season tournament. Kessler was one of four players from the MIAA to earn the regional honor (Lisa Winkle – Calvin, Audrey Graham – Olivet and Marcia Harris – Calvin).
During this past season she scored her 1,000th career point and currently ranks fifth on Saint Mary’s career scoring list with 1,084 points. She set the school single season scoring mark as she scored 497 points during the season.
